well, i stumbled, and do mean stubled across a good dump truck, and made my down payment till next week. i found a good (seeming):
1990 Ford F-700
6.6 liter I-6 Ford diesel with Garrett Turbo
Good tires
Decent paint
NO rust
good dump
drives good
Been a garbage truck locally for a few years, then sold to a mechanic who used it to haul ulch to his house for a big landscape project, and hauled 200 loads of creek rock to his farm. 24,700# GVW.
best of all-----$3,250!
They don't make enough power to break anything, I think the NA versions made 110 horse and the later versions with turbos and intercoolers made about 160.

Congrats, Good looking truck. oughta last quite a few more years! We had a few boom trucks at work with that engine. Never had any problems. How does she drive?
well, actually it drove good considering. and by considering i mean the type of weather i always seem to pick to go look at stuff. the rig had been setting about 3 weeks, and its about 15-20 degrees in the overnights here now, so it had flat spots on the tires lol. but, after a couple of mies that all smoothed out, and she drove good. MUCH better thn the IH's i've drove. the IH's seem to have such a crappy cab and such. but this ole gal seemed to drove good, especially for the money. i guess we'll see what she's made of when we get her on a creek bottom and put 10 ton of rock on her.
I just sold a tandom axle Brigadeer with a 3208 cat motor and 10 speed for 3500. Had a auto roll tarp. Dump body was in ok shape, had a oil leak, I picked it up off craigs list about a week ago...

thers deals out there if ya look. this was the most for the money around here that was ready to go. i need only a small truck, for sake of DOT, ect. imma farm tag it. i figure any running, dumping, decent truck is only gonna get so cheap, then you have to pick and choose to see which trucks are the most for your $$$$
