Extra wire on some E4OD's?
I ran across a reference to some 5.0/E4OD trannys having a ninth wire going to them, so I started checking the diagrams in my '80-'96 Pickups & Bronco Haynes book.On the '94-'95 5.0 MAF page (it shows a wire for each injector) there is an extra wire, looks like 'lt.blue/yellow', and the diagram section says 'E4OD only'.None of the other auto diagrams for the years '92-'95 show this wire, whether 4.9, 5.0 SD, or 5.8, MAF or SD, California or whatever. I don't even see a 7.5 auto until '96.All the '96 diagrams for autos show the extra wire, tho now it seems to be colored 'lt.blue/blk'. And all the motors seem to be MAF. But this is when they all went to EEC-V, so I can understand that.So what does this extra 5.0/E4OD MAF wire do? The Baumann install page (just as a reference) says it is a Trans Range Select or something to that effect. ECU pin #30. That sounds like the Hi-Lo range selector for a 4wd but it implies that all the other motors I mentioned above either never came with E4OD 4wd or didn't need that wire for some reason.Or possibly some other reason that hasn't occurred to me. Anybody know?I want to use one of the '95 5.0/E4OD MAF EEC-IV's to run my 5.8/E4OD/2wd, so I guess that ecu pin will be there.
