Hey all,
First post here. I am currently in Iraq and when I return I want to upgrade my truck for better performance and milage. I have a 2000 F-250 Lariet Superduty with a 7.3L DIT and is a 4X4. Everything is stock except the air filter which is a K&N. I also have 125K miles on it right now, and not a single leak. Also, this is my first 3/4 ton truck and hopefully my last for many years as I love this truck.
I am currently browsing the threads and am picking up some tips here and there, but my internet time is limited so as much as I would love to spend hours on this site pouring over the threads, I can't.
Bruce
Hello Bruce. First thing, thanks for serving. There is so much info on this forum. And the people are the best. Sounds like you have a good platform to start with. I don't have the time right now to tell you all the things that you can do to your truck to make it better, I will be back in the morning, I know the night people will help you out. . Glad you are here.
EDIT: I almost forgot the main thing. Welcome to FTE.
Bruce, Welcome aboard and thanks for your service.
First off, if your K&N filter is the drop in type that fits in the stock air box, I would recommend getting rid of it. That type of filter has sealing problems which allow dirt to get into the turbo. Not good.
There's plenty of places to squeeze a few MPG's out of these trucks. Better air intake and exhaust is a good start. Tuners such as the type from DP Tuner DP-Tuner can help with some MPG's. The funny thing is a tuner will give you some more gitty up and you end up with a big right foot having all that extra power at your disposal.
Bruce, Thanks for serving and welcome to FTE! they already got ya on the right track would go with a good intake, exhaust and find out where you want the truck to go... in other words if you just want a toy that is like mod list A... a towing machine mod list B... see where im going? most of your mods will help out each other. and then some mod's we do just plain set us apart!
