Question For Number Dummy

Bill,
I have a part I just came up with and I`d like to know what the part came off of. When you get a chance I`d appreciate whatever info you can supply.
It`s a crankshaft pulley with the number coae-6312-b on it. also has what looks to be oal - 1 s opposite side. Anyone else with any ideas on this please chime in. Thanks

Gary

Someone would need: a 1960/64 car parts catalog, 1957/63 truck parts catalog and an appropriate master cross reference catalog to "chime in."

How many peeps have any of these here on FTE?

COAE-6312-B = COAZ-6A312-B .. 292 Crankshaft Pulley-Outer-Double Sheave.

O.D. = 5.94" -outer sheave / 6.58" -inner sheave.

Fits: 1960/62 Ford Custom/Galaxie with P/S & A/C.

Fits: 1962 Ford Custom/Galaxie w/dual belt generator w/o A/C.

COAZ-6A312-B wasn't used on trucks, but one would need the 57/63 truck parts catalog to find that out.

$300.00 and up? Which type was it? If for a T-Bird, that's cheap!

There were 3 different three sheave harmonic balancers used on Y blocks, but two of them are 1957 Thunderbird only and only used when this car was equipped with a McCollough Supercharger (F-Bird).

These two T-Bird balancers have been almost impossible to find since the late 1960's. The difference between the two: One was used w/a M/T, the other with an A/T.

The third harmonic balancer was used on 1955/59 cars for various applications: B5AZ6312B.

At one time a local wrecking yard had all three NOS. In the mid 1970's, someone (not saying who) bought all the T-Bird balancers, and sold them to a local T-Bird resto shop for faaar more than 3 bills each!

AFAIK, there are still a couple of the B5AZ balancers there.

Next time you're in the LA area, lemme know.

I have a 3 sheave bolt on pulley in front of me that you may be of some help. I don`t know what it`s off of nor do I know if it`s even a Ford part. This pulley has the number
c2oe 6312 and c 4 on it. Could these numbers help you identify it?
Thanks.

Hey guys---I asked before and what is the harmonic balancer from a 1964 f100 so strange for? I tried to bolt this engine in my 56 f100 frame and the mount was wrong....so I took it off and the 56 mount will not slide in behind the 64 balancer.
To use this engine in the future----do I change the balancer--or the mount? Bill

Actually its not the balancer thats different, I think its the front cover that is different and it causes the mount to hit the balancer.

Trucks. (Cars are different with two exceptions, the timing cover gasket and the single sheave harmonic balancer used in 1956).

1954/64 uses the same timing cover gasket: B4A-6020-A

1954/64 uses the same timing cover: C2TZ-6019-A, which is a FoMoCo updated part number, it replaced the cover originally used 1954/61, the timing cover seal also has to be changed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1957/64 uses the same harmonic balancer: C3TZ-6312-E.

1956 F100/600 272 (except the H/D engine) uses a ONE YEAR ONLY single sheave harmonic balancer: B5AZ-6312-A, which was also used on 1955/56 cars with 272/292's (except Birds).

1956 F600 272 w/the H/D engine uses a double sheave harmonic balancer: B6TZ-6312-A.

1954/55 239/256 uses a different harmonic balancer than 1956 does: EVB-6312-A.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1954/56 239/256/272 uses the same engine mount bracket: B6C-6028-A, but it's not the same as 1957/60.

1957/60 F100/600 uses the same engine mount bracket: B7C-6028-A, but it's not the same as 1961/64.

1961/64 F100/250 2WD, F350 uses the same engine mount bracket.

1961/64 F100/250 4WD uses the same upper engine mount bracket the 2WD's use, but also uses a lower engine mount bracket.

Confusing, isn't it? Typing all this stuff was also confusing.

OK Bill, which setup does your 1956 really have? Are the parts really from a 1956? Are they truck parts or car parts?

Who really knows what's original and what ain't after 52 + years?

B6TZ-6312 That is a F-600 balancer For the optional heavy duty 272. It has an extra grove for the wide belt for the high mount fan. Is that the style you are using walford? You have been into these F600's alot

The 1964 engine I bought from lastchance56 and it was from a 1964 F100 he said.
This front pulley no. is C37E 6318-6 or as close as I can tell. it is a 292 yblock

The1956 engine is a 1956 F600 272 YBLOCK from the truck I parted out this yr.
the front pulley is very heavy duty and is no. 127707 as far as I can tell.

I am stunned at the difference in these 2 are. thanks guys.....Bill
