Driving back from landfill after hauling off a load of dead trees, I noticed that when I let off the accelerator there was a big cloud of smoke blowing out the exhaust. After stopping at an intersection and starting back I could tell it was missing. After getting home I reved up engine and it looked like a smoke bomb going off. It seems to run fine at ide but speed it up it starts missing and blowing smoke. This forum has taught me how to change return fuel lines and glow plugs I hope you all can explain this.
Smell the exhaust smoke sweet is coolant, oil smells like oil and fuel smells like diesel.
If you think it is a bad injector...... engine idling......loosen one injector cap line nut, cover with a cloth doing this re spraying fuel.... then listen ..... if the engine misses badly that injector is ok. Tighten line cap nut to 22 ftlbs. Keep moving until you get an injector that does NOT make a significant difference.
This am I checked anti-freeze level and it was o.k. none missing. Then I tried smell test on exhaust. After nearly being asphyxiated I concluded it didnt smell sweet.I will try to test injectors today. I am not using an additive.
