hello - i recently bought a 50 f1 , in descent shape . i have torn into it litlle , i have dog house off - the drivetrain is 350 chevy 400 tranny w/ some hillbilly mounts and welding (homemade) frame seems good and all there -orig. trying to decide on how to upgrade susp. and brakes . i know there are mustang II ifs set ups i can get for about 1700 - are they hard to put on ? also debating on frame swap , read about using ltd , crown vic frame - which to me seems better , all would be upgraded plus ford drivetrain, any advice and info would be great , thanks
And, decide if the Appalachian Engineering is going to interfere with installing an MII IFS. By the way, that $1,700.00 price tag is going to baloon up to at least $2,500.00 before you are done. It's just the un-written law... If you have the skills, facility and equipment, you might want to consider going with an IFS from one of the several donor vehicles that are often used. (BTW, you will need that to do the MII IFS also.) You can probably get a whole vehicle for half of the price of that MII kit and part out or junk the rest for some extra cash. On the other hand, if you have more money than good sense, by all means go for the MII and get the right mounts for that engine to go with it.
How about taking some pictures and posting them??? Until you do that, we are in the dark. Also you need to go back to you profile and fill in your location. We might be right next to you and not know it. That way we can come over and give you a hand with that project.
