Strange speedo

Hey All. My speedo in my 06 F250 PSD acts strangely. Occasionally it will not start working (0 mph) at all for about 10 - 15 mins into drive pulling a 11K lb 5th wheel. I have a Bully Dog with Outlook and the Outlook shows the proper speed. On a couple other occasions, the speed didn't seem right (too fast or too slow). Bully dog seems right then too. I've replaced the speed sensor in the rear diff. Does the dash display screw up on these? Ideas?

I havent been around for a while but I seem to recall reading in the past that there were a couple of people experiencing similar problems and it was the instrument cluster itself that was bad.

How does the speedometer behave when it stops working? Does it initially work as you start moving with the truck and then the speedo stops and drops to 0?

Usually it is after staying at a campground for the weekend. When I pull out, the speedo is just sitting at "0". The fact that the BD Outlook is reading properly tells me the prob is not the sensor... More likely in the dash. Have you ever heard of relacing just the guage with one from a salvage yard. I would guess the dealer would be scary...

Had this problem on mine. Mine would stay at 0 while driving down the interstate or be at 30 when you were going 70. Like mentioned above, its a bad instrument cluster. After i got mine done, never happened again

Been there

Yeah, I have my instrument cluster fail on me twice. When the dealership got it right the 2nd time, they replaced the instrument cluster and the Hec module. This happened to me three years ago and at that time, the service manager said the Hec module was on a national back order. Seems like a very common problem.
