synthetic oil
synthetic oil
wondering i have a friend that has a 2003 7.3 f-350 that has 175000 miles on it and wants to know if anyone has heard if its okay to switch to synthetic after using regular oil for that long.
I've got an '03 with 170K. I bought it a year ago and switched over to synthetic and have had no problems yet, and it doesn't burn any more than it did on dino (about 1/2 quart between oil changes if I don't tow).
If he wants to go syn, tell him to go for it.

yeh im thinking bout going to synthetic in my truck. but it aint got really enough miles. but i was wondering if it'd be alright to switch to synthetic even though its only got 55,xxx miles on it since the rebuild?
I confess to a firm opinion that synthetic is a waste of money unless required by the manuf.
A full synthetic excells in certain situations. I have been using motorcraft synthetic blend in the warmer months and then switching over to synthetic during the winter. Synthetics just work better in the cold. In the drivetrain I full synthetics in everything.
It won't hurt to switch to synthetics. I have been running a full syn in my 74' F-100 302 with 80k orig miles on it since around 46k miles, works well.
