Question Exhaust System.

Exhaust System.
Good morning, I would like to see what everybody thinks on this matter. So here I go.
I have a 78 f250 400 Engine. I want to run my tail pipes up right behind the cab; however here is where I want to see what everyone else thinks. I am caught between both LOL so I turn to those that share the same passion as I do the 70s truck. Or again just throw your 2 cents in. Thanks
A. Should I run them throw the box?
B. Run then on the outside of the box?

If you are talking about running your exhaust through the side of the bed then I say no way in hell would I cut up my truck for that. Its just butchering the truck. Later you may decide you don't like it or if you sell it potential buyers may not be interested in doing body work. Besides that the exhaust can stain or burn the paint.

Are you refering to running the exhaust Through the truck bed vertically like Semi Stacks? And the other option being to go outside the truck bed? If so then I ask you to put another button choice for Neither. Pick-ups are not Semi-Tractors. I see bozo's doing that with newer diesel trucks and I think IMHO it looks and sounds retarded.

I guess i ment threw the floor of the bed, or along side the bed kind of the cab meets the box that idea would require no cutting of any kind.

if ya really want this style then go on the outside of the box, and what kind of box do you have? short style side, long style side, or short flare side or long flare side? and i know this is sacrilegious, but i had to post this picture of this truck! lol these heaps are no longer around due to rust, but here is a rare 70s dodge, you all remember this truck, i have only ever seen one of these trucks back about 4-5 years ago. and i am just posting this pic to show him a idea, if he has a flare side box, and i think a style side truck would look kinda bad with pipes hanging way out on the side, but i just hate the thought of cutting up the floor, a flare side is the best way to have them outside the box. make a little ford express! lol

The Lil Red Express trucks are kinda cool...for a Dodge of course. If you had a step side and wanted to do something like that and get fancy stacks Id say go for it. BUT any butchering to the bed is a bad idea. The whole steel pipe redneck stacks is pretty retarded if you as me.

aren't those the Harley Davidson edition Dodges?

anyways, don't mess up your bed for that. run the pipes out under the truck and get some stacks for under the truck if you want stacks.

i need to ask why does it sound retarded on a diesel? and i wouldnt do stacks on a gas engine. just get a muffler and be done with it.

hey thanks for the input. The main reason (and i forgot to say) for me to run stacks was to keep the tail pipe out of the water when i go off roading. If the chance i get stuck i dont care to have my pipes under water.

i guess you just dont like diesel engines, any straightpipe on a diesel will sound the same and awesome. sorry for jacking the thread.

and op i dont think you should have much of a problem with that, ive seen people in water with a regular tailpipe and they come out fine. if you want, make another pipe you can clamp on the end of your tailpipe that extends up and over the bed and use it only when your offroading.

i always said to myself that if i had a diesel i would do two pipes through the hood, like the trucks that compete in tractor pulls
