I have 2 12 subwoofers in my truck and Double din, and 4 way speakers.. I've noticed that the radio stations hit and are about 5-10 times louder than CD's.. Would that be a mistake in the wiring or is that just the difference in frequencies, I've heard "of mines like that" and I've heard "oh cd's should be louder" any help is appreciated, thanks!
Radio only goes down to 50hz, CDs should go to around 20-25Hz or maybe lower. If your box is ported for something in the 50-80Hz range, your hearing more on FM than CD because your CDs are playing lower Freqs.
Do you have any sound dampening or equalizers/processors? do you have a test CD to set up the speakers?
On a lot of decks some inputs will be louder than others. With some decks you are able to adjust these inputs levels so they all match volume wise. I'd say your deck is fine, just check your owners manual to see if your particular deck has this option.

It's just a sealed box, nothing special. The box is probably a little too small, no i don't not have a test cd. Or a sound dampening or equalizer/processor. So I have talked to people, me and one guy I know that had it done not by a shop, have Radio louder than CD's.. and people had it done by shop total opposite
The sealed box should provide even output across the freq range, and you don't have anything amplifying certain Freqs, so I like the level per input idea. I have never thought about it, but since manufactures don't use the same quality parts to assemble a radio, it's likely that the cheaper FM unit may produce higher voltages than the CD player component.
Now that I think about it, I have had the same problem with my stock radio. After I added a pair of subs, I noticed I had to turn down my subs when listening to talk radio compared to when I listened to a CD.

Any ideas of what I can do? ... I have a Jensen VM9022, indash.
The decibel is a gain. they both cut the signal in half.
On my processor with EQ, I have 16 presets I can switch between. Basically I can tune a preset for CD and they one for radio which I can attenuate frequencies to level it out. A programmable EQ would be the quick and easy option if you can't adjust the gain on the Radio.
I went to crutchfield and you do have an EQ. You can Dial down the 100Hz and lower Freqs when you listen to the radio. The filters you put on the antenna wires can bring down the gain, you can probably paint the antenna or cut an inch or so off too.

So nothing I can do about making the CD's be louder and better than radio?
Nope, You can only bring down the radio to match the CD. If you want to cheat, you can try raising the gain on the low frequencies. Probably 200Hz and below. The results will vary, but because it's amping the signal from the CD, you might be able to get away with 6dB gain without noise.

****, so it's my headunit, not my subs or anything
Looking at the owners manual your deck has the ability to adjust the volume levels of the different inputs like I mentioned previously. See page 19 (P.Vol)of your owners manual. If you don't have your owners manual you can find it here. http://mobile.jensen.com/jensen/docs...022_DOC_OM.PDF

yeah, I have the Disc and the Radio on +6.. should I lower that on the CD, would that change anything?
No, the headunit is made up of components/sources, CD player, FM receiver, AM receiver,CD changer/ipod/AUX interfaces. They get switched between before going into the HUs EQ, amplifier and outputs. So if one source is louder, then you have to bring it down or adjust the others up. I didn't see where you could adjust the gain on the sources so you will have to tweak something else. The EQ is probably the easiest and the gain on the subs amp next. However they will have to adjusted as switch between the sources.
Now you can probably put in an aftermarket HD radio tuner or a satellite tuner and be able to adjust the gain to match the CD players.

It's bad, I wish my Cd's were as loud, and bassy as the radio! It's more enjoyable to listen to the Radio than CD's! Dang.. Not what I was expecting!
