speedometer driven gear part number

Hi

I changed my gear ration from a 3.50 to a 2.75 for better highway/mpg.

I have a NP435 4 speed trans and the current driven gear is green and says 17r so it's 17 tooth gear. I know I need to go with fewer teeth.

I know tires are a factor but the driven gears are cheap and I wanted to know the part numbers for driven gears with fewer teeth to try and get closer on the speedometer.

Is 16 teeth the gear with fewest for the transmission or do they make a 15 and 14 tooth gear?

Did the F100 in 1966 come with a 352 and NP435 with a 2.75 rear end? If so what was the driven gear used?

Thanks

Jim

What is the difference between C2DZ-17271-J and C0DZ-17271-A as on Dennis Carpenters site the c2 part says it's for four speeds and the c0 part is for 3 speeds and automatics?

Both driven gears are type 3A, which means both have the same dimensions, and both have the teeth running this away: \\\ so both will work.

Consider that both of these gears date to the 1960's, and both fit 10's of 1000's of different applications, car & truck thru today.

Both these gears were used with M/T's & A/T's.

This blows 'ol Dennis Carpenter's info out the door:

1965/69 F100 3.25-1 NP435 / 7T drive gear / 16T driven gear: CODZ17271A.

How many more examples would you like?

I have every Ford car parts catalog 1928 thru 2003, every truck parts catalog 1928 thru 2002.

And I know how to use them, as my signature sez.
