Welcome to FTE.

There is no relationship between the tps and clutch. The clutch is all manual and the TPS is all wires.

When you say idling do you mean you are not touching the throttle at all?

Sounds like the IVS (idle validation switch) is not closing when releasing the go peddle.

I second the IVS. This might help (copied from Baz's site Tips - Idea - Hints )

Accelerator Adjustment
In some cases, the accelerator sensor doesn't respond as it should. You may notice it clicking or hesitating when you push on it. The accelerator on the Power Stroke is completely electronic, there is no throttle cable. This sensor can be adjusted for better throttle response. Go easy though, if you adjust it too far, you may have a problem with the engine resetting to idle. There is no adjustment on the switch. I had to bend the tab on the accelerator that depresses the switch until I was satisfied. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! It's nice to have throttle control.

Bend the tab on the pedal until it is set so that as soon as you depress the pedal the IVS clicks. Good Luck.

I'll have to check that out as well I have had same problems when it's idling it will jump rpm, sometimes it acts as though it's going to die, then while at stop lights it revs up like it wants to take off.
