Detroit locker

My rear end needs a rebuild. Its a 9.75 with 3.55. Trucks a 2002 supercab 4x4 5.4 ltr xlt. So if i gotta rebuild i'm thinking locker, This truck goes off road and on road about the same. I'm interested in a detroit locker. Has anyone had experience with the locker in these trucks or any vehicle i guess? Whats the road manner of these? Any information would be greatful this rebuild should be done soon.

thanks
Patrick

I have one in an F100 with a 9" rear, have for years. It's a 2wd, and I've put many thousands of street miles on it. I have heard people complain about clunking and banging, but I don't hear or feel anything. Of course I run straight pipes, so it may not be the most civilized rig!

Whats it like on the street? How is the turning? Does it unlock going around corners or only when you let off the throttle? My biggest concern is while I go around corners I tend to start accelerating before I'am out of the turn. So if its gonna spin all the time I guess I will go a different route.

Thanks

I'm a fan of the Powertrax No Slip locker.

No noise, vibrations or excess tire wear on the street. Tires stay locked untill you take a corner slowly. If you drive like a normal human being, you won't notice the locker is back there.

It is fun breaking the tires loose on purpose sometimes though.

Like I said, I never noticed any difference in normal street driving.
