Yesterday I was out running errands and when I left one place I was backing out of a spot and the X just died while going backyards. It started right back up and I never felt it sputter. Tank is full. One time before it died right after I started it up then when I got home and shut it off it fired right back up when it was in the off position. Any ideas?

It started with the key in the OFF position??
Sounds like, but may not be, a funky ignition switch or wiring associated with it. Very odd.

Yes, the same day it stalled out in park when I got home and shut the ignition off to Aux only and it fired back up right away (by itself) and the RPM's were very high so I pulled the key out right away. Then nothing happened again till yesterday (about a month) and it died while in reverse.
Have you had any electronics put in. This happen to me in my 2003 Ford Expedition. I had a TV installed and the connected the power to the ignition by accident and everytime I turned the key to AUX or ON (not start just ON) it would start up by itself.
I have read threads on here before where wires were chafing in the steering column and causing crazy problems. Dangerous though. Some of them reported smoke! I would check there first.
