ok so im a 7.3 owner and 3 of my buddies have the 6.o... 2 so far have blown head gaskets... the first one needed 2 new heads and a bunch of other crap.. he got it warrantied no problem with a edge programmer installed... so the second one who blew there head gaskets ''the one who makes fun of my 7.3 all the time that never brakes down'' went in with his edge installed "STUPID" and of course they denied him..... he took it to the same dealer as #1 guy did..... my question is, do they more than likely put something in the computer system so all the dealers can see that he had a chip installed or is it just that dealer that can see if he had a chip installed...??? oh also any advice i can give him on getting this thing fixed besides the obvious DONT GO IN WITH A CHIP, INTAKE, NO CAT....??? thanks guys!!
My guess is that #1 bought his truck and Edge from the dealer that did the warranty work (and the dealer can lie to the factory rep) and that #2 bought his truck elsewhere. I dont think that they put "chip users" in any data base. Put it back to stock and take it to another dealer. I dont know if a KAM erase is necessary with the EDGE, but I would do it anyway (see the tech folder).
if the stealerships find something that voids your warranty they can go into the computer and void it which means that every other dealership that you take it to will see that it is voided and will deny warranty work. that is if the dealership that found the tuner are a bunch of A** holes and do it. all you can do is hope that they don't report it to fords warranty division!

Sort of a crookstomer versus the stealership deal eh?
If your 7.3 never 'brakes down' you should install an exhaust brake.
Anyway, once he installed a tuner he risked becoming his own warranty station and you cannot blame that on the dealer and/or service department. They were doing their job.
If he wants to know if his truck is flagged then he should post his VIN in the OASIS request thread and see what the notes state.
BTW, how come your friend does not post here himself?
i apologize if that phrase offends you! i didn't realize there were people who saw that as bad taste. i'll stop referring to them as "stealerships"!
Not really personally offended, just amused by the irony of every dealer automatically being labeleded a "stealership" whilst Joe the plumber removes his tuner, aftermarket intake, disconnects the batteries, reconnects the EGR, replaces the catalytic convertor and "dummies up" when he takes it in for blown headgaskets.

I guess they believe in "the hooker with a heart of gold" story.
Using the term stealership can be offensive to Technicians who work there. FTE has lost several very good Ceritifed 6.0 Technicians because they got tired of being attacked and basically being accused of ripping off customers.
The Techs don't set the prices and are just trying to make a living like all of us!
Chasing down a problem when the customer is being 'less than honest' is very frustrating for them, especially when the book only gives them so much money for warranty repairs.
no the 7.3 hasent broken.... yes i do have an auto so jake brake...... ''wasnt bashin the 6.0's''
yes they are doing there job for refusing him.. i totally agree with that... especially since he has 37's and floors it on the 5 setting all the time!! and i mean all the time!!
both guys bought there trucks used from private party that installed the chip themselves
i will deffenatly have him look up the vin and see if anything comes up ''void warranty'' and my friend isnt signed up or would take the time to look at FTE...''he thinks he knows everything'' im just going on here to try and help him out so he doesnt have to pay 6-7 grand ''depending if his heads are cracked'' first buddys bill was 7 k for the work with 2 new heads..
one more thing.. if the thing hasnt been flagged yet should i have him get the computer reflased or whatever to stock in case there is info in there saying there was a tuner? kind of a obvious question but im not sure if it leaves any trace of a tuner???

i was in no way trying to sound like i was attacking the techs! i know that they don't set the prices! i have defended many techs on here when they were getting attacked! their advice is invaluable to us and would really suck if they weren't here! i guess what i was getting at is the fact of dealerships refusing warranty work when it is obvious the customer qualified for it! i don't understand it cause they still get paid regardless of whether they do it under warranty or not! i guess i just wish they could make it easier for us to have some goodies on our trucks without having to worry about the warranty getting voided!
