Question About Tire, Gear, & Engine Setup

I'm sure this has been hashed out, someone point me to a good link if you know of one. But I'm shopping for a Bronco, and a lot of them I'm finding have 33" tires on them. I'm concerned about fitment (is a suspension lift recommended) as well as performance, since I assume most will have 3:55 gears. I have 30x9.50 on my '96 F-150 2WD, 4.9L and it seems to be OK. With the 5.0L Bronco I think I would have put 31" or 32" tires if using 3:55 gears, but like I said, it seems popular to put 33" tires on. I also should mention that I occasionally tow a boat.

I would recommend a suspension lift for proper fit of 33's on a Bronco, but from what people say around here, it isn't absolutely necessary. When using 33's with the 5.0, 3.55's won't be horrible but I think you'd be much happier with 3.73 or even 4.10 gears to keep the rpm's in the range where the motor makes its most power. It really comes down to how much you're willing to spend to get everything the way you like it.
