its alive!!!!

well drove my truck to work today i was sweating bullets the entire time hoping it wouldnt crap out on me.drove it there then over to a friends then back home and ran fine.my tranny shifts premature but im assuming being its an e4od it relearning shift points and now with the intake i built for it when its shifts gears it soiunds like a blow off valve almost.it sounds awesome and for some reason the motor is quieter than it has ever been so i assume i had an existing problem.well anyway let me know what ya think about the abnormal shifting and the blow off valve noise

I am glad you are finally making progress.

Although I know little about the E4OD, I think the FILP may need adjusted.
I have read the throttle closed and WOT readings enough on here that I should remember them, but I don't.

As for the blow off valve sound, possibly a boost leak.

You do not have gauges installed yet if I remember right.

FIPL is just another name for the TPS, tis the electronic doodat on the driver-side of the IP with a 3-wire harness plugged into it. You measure voltage between the middle wire in the plug (shove a paperclip in there) and a negative battery terminal, and you do that with the key on but the engine off after engine's all warmed up. You're looking for 1.0-1.1V at closed throttle, 3.8-4.5V at WOT.

I think that the "pop off valve" noise you are hearing is the turbo impeller slowing down,
does it sound like a BIG RIG when thay shift???
Mine does after the new filter and housing...
And you are right, it sounds WAY COOL!!!

Don't do like me, I paid 4k for my 88, spent 2k on paint, 1k on new flex plate and tranny rebuild, 1500 on misc stuff I had Ford do(steering column, fix a short, etc.) 500 on injection pump/injectors, 500 on the front end, and now I'm fixing to have a 1500 motor rebuild, brings up to about 12k in the truck while its probably worth less than the 4k I paid for it, but I just can't bare to see it go, so I keep fixing it, and fixing it. The good news is, after the engine is in hopefully next week if all gos well, I'm oughta have a brand new truck since I've already replaced everything else.
