Hey Ford fans long time... no been here, Nice to see this Foroum still standing the test of time... And as usual When I come here I have a problem. As well as I take care of my 97 f150 with the 4.2 -4X4-Automatic,,, I still need refuge..To those who know and don't mind sharing their expertise and experience. Anyway, I was driving @ about 50mph then my trans slips into 4high... WTF! Well, I can't pull over right away and spare A bigger thump than I felt. Then I pull over a few times more, after I get it to finally settles into 2H.
My question is..... What happen? No really! Anyway the Dash 4x4 is illuminated and I'm pretty sure thats suppose to go away if your in 2H.
Any ideas? Thanks

Reason: Misspelt
if it is an electronic 4x4 then my guess would be that you have a problem in the electrical system like a short or maybe the switch has gone out. but if it is a manual 4x4 then the first thing i would do is just sceck the fluid in the axles, tranny, and transferre case.
Tanks Dude, Levels are just fine,,, And it's manual,,, The linkage was crudied up,, Greesed them, alls good, but for saftey and no real reason _ I hope I'm disconnecting the front drive shaft to eliminate any further issues. Besides, I have a deal with Bruce almighty and It wont snow in Jesrey again this year
Tanks bluegrass, but No, thats not the problem. I do have the leaky winshield and the rear slide of course, like- the big 3s... I'm gonna run this truck into the ground like they did an american industry. But the problem is,,, I have to be the driver and pay my own bills.
