Yeah, that's the best I know how to describe it. I'll see if I can get a sound clip for you guys. But there may be so much engine noise till you can't hear it.

Rear end grease? Do you have the LSD rear? Sounds to me like it is the rear diff clutch packs. It is over due for a drain and fill. Make sure you use the synthetic for LSD's and use the friction modifier. My dealer re-did the fluid change I did and added an extra bottle of modifier and it cleared up the grinding that a single bottle didn't.

Fluid change will clear that up most likely. Should take around 20 minutes and cost about $80 in fluid.

Probably want to do the T-case and front diff too. T-case isn't hard, just hard to wiggle around and you need a fill tube to get the fluid back in. Front diff cover is annoying and the job is messy.

Could also be the idler arm bushing if if happens while turning the wheel...that happened to me about a year ago.

Idlers are known to go around 100k or so, that would be a good place to look. Plus they do creak a lot when worn.
