Steering Box Backlash
I own a 1977 F-100 with manual steering. There is about 15 degrees of backlash in the steering gear box. Is there something simple andcheap I can do to remove some of this backlash?

Make double certain that it is the box before trying to adjust it, you probably have but it takes two people to check things out, one to rock the wheel back and forth while you check all the tie rod ends pitman arm and check kingpins also if two wheel drive and wheel bearing also. anything that moves up there. Reason I say all this is because once you start adjusting the box, get it a little tight and they can lock up on you from what I have heard, always left mine a bit loose either manual or power type boxes, should be a stud looking bolt with a lock nut on it on top or the side of the box, be very gentle when tightening and go just a little bit and try it until you get to maybe 10 degrees or so 15's really not too bad... but check everything else first..
