I bought a 2001 Ford F250 Superduty with the 7.3L in it about a month ago and the dealer I bought it from thought it had a banks chip in it. Well it it does im not impressed and want to put the bully dog 6 position chip and so I can smoke ****! Can anyone tell me how to go about figuring out what it has? Also it may sure have been programmed and if so would it mess anything up to put the chip in? Thanks Ben
Welcome to FTE Ben. Do you have guages in the truck? They are a must when running any type of chip or aftermarket programming. The most popular tuner here is DP-Tuner Im not to sure exactly how to tell if your PCM has been reflashed though. Others will chime in shortly.
I am almost postivie that if you add a chip like DP the "stock" will be what ever is on the PCM. So basically if the ECM is programmed by "Banks" your stock position would be the banks programming. That being said, I didn't think banks did any ECM flashing? I know they have the otto mind and six gun, but wasn't aware of anything to reprogram.
