I've got a 99 f250 with the electric 4x4 when you turn the switch on nothing happens. All the fuses are good, i took the connections off on the shift motor and grease them up and put them back on. I changed the switch with one out of another truck that worked and it wasnt that. Just wondering if its the shift motor? The light on the dash doesnt even come on. Thanks
Like Jim said, you should hear the shift motor activate when you turn the switch. Check to make sure you have voltage at the shift motor connector. If yes, than you most likely need a new shift motor.
How hard is it to replace? Is it something one can do in the driveway without too much hassle?
Thanks
Tom
Yes, it is easy to get to especially if you don't have a transfer case skid plate. But make sure it is the motor and not a fuse, relay, connector or broken wire. There are two relays under the hood in there own covered box right next to the underhood fuse box. Check your owner's manual. On my 99 they are numbereded relays 41 & 42, and designated ESOF Relay #1 and #2.
