OK so in preparation for the X3 I'm looking at which 3 tunes I'm going to load. What is the difference between the Gen Econ tune @ 90HP/7500 lb tow limit and the Mild Street Econ tune @100 HP, besides 10 HP? I'm thinking Agg. tow w/ turbo brake- just in case I might need to tow something, either Gen Econ or Mild St. Econ and the ASE just for giggles. I think I remember someone saying the stock+ tune feels like much more than 20 HP, that might be a good one for the winter and some light plowing? Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks! - Tim

The Max Econo. tune has no assigned tow limit and the gen. econo. has an assigned tow limit of 7500 lbs.

Make sure you have a good bit of weight on there as the exhaust braking can be too aggressive if your a little light.

If you can stay out of it the ASE will do better then the Gen. or Mild. I would actually just stick with the ASE. For me, giggles were to be had from the Street Comp. tune, but I think that is something your going to have to ask for, I don't think he has it in the archive for whatever reason.

Stock+ is a nice little tune for winter driving. I don't know how well it will do even light plowing, but I do know that he does have plow tunes available. Might want to look into that.

So the only difference is the 7500 lb tow limit, and 10 HP? The truck, the way it sits, I'm sure is over 8000 lbs. I don't want to get crazy with a high- HP tune as I don't have the $$ to do studs & HG's, and I know myself- if its' there I'll want to use it,LOL. As far as the plowing, I only do 3 driveways, one being mine. Thanks, Tex!
OK here's another question. If I have the X3 programmed into my truck, and the wifes Explorer throws a code, can I use my X3 to pull codes from her vehicle, or is it restricted to my truck only?

Just observe everything that you know you should and make sure that you don't do anything crazy til everthing is all warmed up. I think most of these tunes are written with the mind of the unstudded engine, so there should be a little peace of mind in that, but unfortunately there are no promises.

Stock + should be fine for that as long as they aren't 5 miles long with up and down 5% grade hills.

You should be able to read codes from other vehicles, you just won't be able to tune them. However, I'm basing this off the xCal 2, but I would imagine if the xCal 2 did that then the xCal 3 should as well.
Thanks, Tex, thats what I was hoping for- an added little bonus. I'm not looking to tune her Ex, just have the ability to pull codes if they pop up. As always you are the man!
Hey guys. I have an 05 and I've been running the ASE tune as my daily driver and I love it. I was wondering if it would be hard on my truck if I hauled about 1500 pounds in the back of the truck while running it. It's not that big of deal to switch but I love the power of that tune. The truck has been studded. I don't know if that makes a diff or not. Thanks alot......

1500 in the bed of the truck shouldn't be a problem as long as you watch your EGTs. If your pulling something that creates a lot of drag it can cause your truck to work harder. Main thing is to watch your EGTs and you should be fine.
