Hi folks, the stock stereo in my '03 isn't MP3 compatible. I'm not looking to upgrade to anything wild like a Pioneer flat-panel DVD, nav or anything like that. I'm hoping that I can get a stock, double height Ford audio unit that is MP3 compatible, and is pretty much plug and play with removing the existing one.
Anyone know when MP3 compatibility was introduced in those audio units, and if so which ones will fit?
Kenwood has a few units that have quite a few features from built in Bluetooth to full up Garmin navigation. Depends on the wallet what you can install.
I ran an Alpine single din in my '04 with the dash adapter. I had a buddy splice the harness so I had full plug-n-play unit.
I have the Shaker 500 in my F250 and it is mp3 compatable. You can get them off of ebay for less then $100. It is the 6 disk unit in the ford Mustangs. Very easy to install. Not sure if it will work in a 2003 but it works in my 2005.
