I was able to drive a 09 Reg cab 6ft bed XLT 4x4 with 3.55, and 5.4L. My overall impression on it was I really liked it.
Interior:
Overall seats are far more comfortable than the 04-08 Seats, much more contoured, and the seating postion is very comfortable.
The dash layout is very nice and functional easy to use. I really like that when you turn the truck on the cd display says Ford F-150 Built Ford Tough.
Nice gauges easy to read and functional, no more Ford green.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the view out the back over your shoulder, it was kind of hard to check over you shoulder for lane changes and such.
Good stock sound system also, it didn't even have to sony sound system and it was decent.
One cool thing was that under the middle seat, the bottom of it flips up and there is a little more storage under it which is nice.
Powertrain:
Overall the truck feels much more powerful than the previous generation. I would still like a little more low end grunt. Really gets going around 3500 rpms.
The transmission seems to be good shifts when needed and just a little different having that many gears to go through.
Handling:
I didn't really have a chance to corner hard or anything like (really rainy and dark out) But overall from what I could tell was that the truck would handle very good.
Exterior:
Love the color blue flame is beautiful it also had to silver two tone. I love the box side steps and the tail gate step.
The grill on the XLT is very nice looking and I prefer it to the Fx4 grill. They also had an Fx4 Supercab.
I have never really been a big fan of the 04-08 F-150's but I really like the 09's it has a lot more power and it all around a nicer truck.
Sorry for the lack of pictures but it was dark out and I only had my cell phone anyway.
Saw one at a local dealer. I am not a fan of the tailights, but can deal with them. The dash is impressive, and the seats are more comfortable than previous models. I did not get a chance to drive one, but have read what others have written. Seems like Ford did well with this model!
Kudos to Ford on a job well done. I seen one off these trucks at a show near me an got to sit in one wow what can i say. It just blew me away. Those seats are fantastic. Definitly the best in any truck period. Very comfortable. That alone would sell me the truck. The interior outstanding. Im afraid Chevy an Dodge are a bit behind compared to this new Ford, It definitly sets the truck bar up a notch higher. Much higher.
I like everything about it except the butt ugly front end and the Nissan/Jeep-like flares over the wheels.
One complaint about the improvements... they added all the extra length to the rear seating area. I'm 5' 11" and 2004-2008 is a little too cramped, lengthwise in the front. The 2009 is the same. They should have split the extra length they added to the rear with the front, give it at least an extra two inches. The fact is a truck is going to see people riding more often in the front (ie, 100% of the time) verses the back.

I aint had a problem in my bro in laws f150's and im 6ft. you must have super long legs ken. Hope it dont end up being cramped though.
Even with the pedals moved all the way forward I don't care for the lack of leg room. I'm not ape built with long legs (my inseam is a pretty "normal" length). A buddy of mine who is 6' 2", when he gets in the passenger seat, sits with his legs in a "V" position and his knees practically hitting the glove box.

I agree....i'd probably be buying a platinum if it didn't look so damn ugly, I really like the refined classy look of my 07 lariat with the chrome package, and the platinum looks way worse... I did notice when i drove one the other day you seem to have more headroom in the new ones.....but i may have just had the seat adjusted weird
I can vouch for the comfortable seats. Best of any vehicle I've ever been in, at any price. All day, day after day comfortable.
I'm 6'2" and can't run the seat back all the way. Some combination of seat height and pedal adjustment should give you what you're looking for. Ken, have you tried the models with the adjustable pedals?

I'm a painfully average 5'9" with a 30" inseem. I believe i'll fit just fine. I'm chomping at the bit to get my new 2010 F-150? or will it be a V-8 gas superduty? Still haven't decided. Love em both.
