I bought my 06 F150 5 months ago and love it to high heaven!
Before that, I test drove an 05 F250 5.4 5spd 4x4 It was an awesome truck, had all the features need/didn't need and was well cared for by the previous owner and the was the right price with the right mileage. The only thing that stopped me from buying it was the gas mileage. Figure a 5.4 5spd in an F250 with 4:11 gears, I'd be getting around 12mpg. I average about 18 with my F150 but I drive like grandpa.
Now my mind is telling me I should've bought the F250 because it was such a sweet truck. I don't tow anything, I do occasionally haul stuff to the landfill and camping gear and some minor off road. I don't know, should I have bought the F250 or was it just not meant to be
I had an 04 F150 got about 21mpg with the 4.6 V8 my 05 F250 with auto and 3:73 gears and 5.4 got 15mpg,my new F350 crew cab lariat with V10 auto 4:11 gears and 4X4 runs 13 to 14mpg
I have owned F-150, F-250 and F-350 trucks. All of them are excellent vehicles and each are designed for different uses.
The F-150 can't be beat for general truck use where you don't need to carry massive loads or do heavy towing. The truck has an excellent ride and is super reliable.
For heavy duty use, the F-250 and F-350 trucks really can show their stuff. Pulling a 10K trailer behind either of these trucks is a walk in park. You can load up the bed with just about anything that can be stuffed into it and the truck handles it fine.
Don't worry about what you could have got. Just look at how well the truck that you have works.

My trucks does beautifully with my needs. It really shows it's stuff on the highway. Quiet cab, smooth ride, passes cars no problem and drives like a cadillac. I guess I just have a thing for 250's and 350's
If your truck does everything you need and you like it, then don't worry about it... Just enjoy it!
To paraphrase Cadillac, when you turn your truck on, does it return the favor?
I don't need an F250 but I love the truck. This is one reason that I bought it. My needs would have been covered by an F150 but between loving the truck and knowing that it's over-built for my needs and will last forever at my rate of use/abuse, I'm very happy with my choice.
Nothing wrong with the F150 though. Different strokes...
Eh, maybe one day If I can save any money, I'll park one in the driveway.
AkFord - The F250 I test drove was just like yours only in charcoal grey. It was the Xl model, 5spd, no carpet(my favorite about interiors) power nothing etc.... sweet rides
After some serious consideration, running numbers etc... I'm getting rid of it. This truck is costing me too much money and primarily I'm just not happy with it anymore. I've already dumped $600 into it and it needs about $500 more. That's not including the payments.
For whatever reason, I let some people talk me out of the F250 I test drove and that truck needed nothing from the get go. Despite the gas mileage it would've got, and my financial situation, it would've been ALOT!! cheaper to get the F250 over this so called F150 I have. Yea buying a new truck will cost me more upfront, but the simple fact is I'm not happy with it anymore. This truck is turning out to be reminance of my old Ranger, cursed with problems. Soon as I get the funding, it's gone.
you will be so happy with a super duty....are you a veteran? You can get a x-plan price if so. That will get you down to just under invoice and then rebates will help even more after that.
