What is the best 6" rear lift for the excursion.(springs or combo with block) I am currently running stock springs with a large block, not the best set up for a this big rig. What is everyone running?
Do you like the set up? Stiff? Softer than stock?
Best bet is to go to a custom spring shop and have new springs made with the lift that you want. You might try National Spring down near San Diego. They have ads in the off road magazines. They build a lot of the srings for the off road racers.
If you go with custom springs, you can pick your spring rate and get exactly the ride (or carrying capacity) you want. National Spring does make good springs, that's what I run.
I've noticed that a lot of people who make lift kits and springs (National included) tend to make springs on the stiff side. Unless you plan to carry more than the truck is supposed to handle, there's no reason to get springs with a higher spring rate than stock. If you don't plan on carrying a full load, you can use a lower spring rate and get a smoother ride and more useable wheel travel. Find out what your stock spring rates are, and take it from there.
