LED Tail light conversion question

This might seem obvious to many of you but it is all new to me. For a '99 F-250, if I was to convert the tail lights from incadescent bulb to LED how do I mate the LED pigtails to the Ford light wiring harness female recepticles? It seems that I would snip off the harness recepticles and solder new connectors for each circuit. There appear to be 12 cicuits in the existing harness for the tail, stop, turn and back up lights.

There does not seem to be a conversion plug kit for the LED pigtails. Am I doing this in a reasonable way or am I missing something obvious? I hate to start cutting the harness without being certain this is the right approach.

The truck is being converted to a flatbed so the OEM tail light assemblys do not fit.

Thanks a bunch in advance for pointing out any errors here.

Sounds like the correct approach to me. Be warned if the turnsignals do not work correctly after the swap, you may need to also solder load resistors in the wiring too.
