I got a 2004 X limited with the DVD. Is the connector(s) in the back of the radio gray or black. I'm ordering a hands free kit and would like to order the wiring harness and the radio removal tool at the same time. Wiring harness guy says ford makes 2 different harness types, black and gray. I'm thinking this is probably specific to what year the X was produced. Any Ideas?

I don't know other than to look. The best bet is to pull off the dash bezel that goes around the steering, radio, and ac to look at the harness. It just pulls off and snaps back in place; just tilt the wheel all the way down, put the gear lever in low gear with the truck on but not running. Grab the corner by the light switch and tug. Then just work your way around. Sometimes you have to flex the dash piece a little to get the back of the radio out.

Metra shows the audiophile and standard plug as 71-1771, which is going to be the same as earlier superduties. They don't list DVD though, so hopefully it's a different output and you can use the early plug. If they have a decent return policy, you have two options. Buy both and return the one you don't need (fastest), or buy the early one and you are most likely set.
