leaking pinion seal
OK I started this under my posting of getting my plow truck ready but thought it would help to seperate it.
So far I have the front drive shaft off and I was able to get a 1" 1/16 socket on the nut, I believe that is it correct size, so much rust crusted on it, it is hard to tell.
What I am finding is that I can't move the nut. In the haynes manual it says to check the torque setting before removing the nut, but it aint budging to get a torque setting on it. I am litterally turning the axel, with the hubs locked, and rocking the truck.
It is either rust seized or way over torqued I am not sure at this point. My plan is to get a breaker bar on it, chock the wheels and go for gold on it and see what snaps first.
I guess the question is, when I am putting it back together should the nut be that tight?
