Wanted to say thanks for the great step by step guide that you had on the Escape spark plug removal. It was very easy to do after reading your post.
Question.....after I changed the plugs the idle seems to race when it's cold. I didn't seem to notice this before?? Cold being 10 degrees F., it will start no problem the idle will go to 1200RPM, then quickly to 1400RPM or 1500RPM then slowly come down to about 1000RPM. Any thoughts, would this be related to the plugs?
2002 Escape, 6 cylinder. I parked it in the garage last night (heated to 50 degrees F.) and when I cranked it over this morning it started right away but.... then the idle dropped right down almost like it was going to stall....then within a few seconds picked up and started to settle out to normal. I then shut it off and restarted it several times and it doesn't seem to do it? Thoughts?
They come with a cold start injector to give it more fuel when it's cold, After it reaches operating temp, the idle should come down. You will notice it more in cold weather than when it's warm out.
