Omg!!!!!!!

well i cracked open one of the 2 flatheads i bought form Morris/Fomoko1, low and behold i got something i have never seen before. I have a block with absolutely no cracks what so ever anywhere. I spent over 45 mins looking with a magnifying glass and everything. The block was so nice i didnt even have to ream out the cylinders to get the pistons out just a gently pop with a shortened broom handle and they just fell out of the block. Thanks Fomoko1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (pics to come whenever i get around to it)

Hopefully all is well when it gets checked by magnafluxing at an automotive machine shop, this is great news!
I had a 428 in for rebuilding and when the machine shop owner phoned me he was almost in tears as they had all the parts already in stock when they found afew very tiny hairy line cracks in the block that weren`t not visible to the naked eye.

well if it comes back from fluxing with a checkmark im doing the traditional flathead mill of 0.83"over with domed, 3 ring pistons, adjustable lifters, and hardened valve seats and chev 350 stainless valves. I plan of relieving the finned heads i have and porting them and the intake, 4" crank milled for the 1/8" offset to make it 4 1/8" balanced and printed along with an isky max 4 cam and aluminum timing gears. Plan on rerouting all the oil passages to imnprove the oiling of the motor as well as deleting the downdraft tube for a version of an internal PCV valve. '30-47 style fuel pump with the aluminum 2x2 intake with the 2 94 holleys and change the water pump pullies fromt he truck 5/8 for the car 3/8" ones. I think that kinda sums it up

I`m going to go with an electric fuel pump on mine, it`s great for easier start up after my truck has sat for a while.

the only bad thing is i had to pick one of the most expensive builds to do. I could build 3 sbf or sbc to this one flathead

And you`ll have more three times the cookie cutter motor my T has.......
Keep this up Chris and I`ll start thinking about a Flatttie for it! I`ve still got two running spares laying around.

I tried counting, I lost count at 10. 6 that are running or easily fixable.

I've always liked a nice hotted up flattie. You see a few, not a lot, but I think more now, then say 5-10 years ago.

The flathead Ford V8 lives on...long live the Flattie.

I still recall a neighbour's flathead V8, which I've spoken about before. Since I'm an old man, with nothing left but memories bear with me, one more time as I recount this oldie, but goodie. I was a 12 year old kid and it was back in the early '60's.

'50 Meteor, with that deep and rich, blue-black colour. The owner was an old ('80's) American Mechanic who had souped up his flathead V8 with 3X1 Stromberg carbs, twin Smithie mufflers on his dual exhausts and a .."3/4 race cam..." .

Hot cams back then were identified as 3/4 race, full race.

Boy did it sound nice. Don't think there is a V8 engine that has a nicer V8 burble..than an old souped up flathead V8.

Just hearing about this 50 Meteor makes me drool Les........I had a 51 Ford Tudor sedan, I really wish that I could have it now in the same shape it was then!
