I've been smelling fuel around the truck lately so I put it on the ramps today and there's fuel all over the bottom of the engine and trans. I've looked all over and can't find the source but when i got home today and looked underneath it was dripping pretty good. I remember opening the valve on the filter about a month ago so i did that again now the only leak i can find is the tube where that drains out. Anyone else ever have a problem like this?
Check in the valley of the motor. It is not uncommon for some O-rings to go bad and fuel drip in the valley and run down the back of the motor. Check the fuel bowl.
My brother had this problem in his truck. Started out with just a little leak then got worse and worse. We got on this board and found an thread discussing this issue. Someone had posted the exact procedure and even had some great pics. If I could remember the topic subject I'd post it but my CRS is pretty bad. <G>
Anyway we went down to a local auto parts store and they didn't have the "O" rings so we went down to OSH and found some. Cost was about .50! Took him about 10 minutes to change out. That was about a year ago. No problem since. And his fuel mileage has improved dramatically! <G>
I put it back on the ramps when I got home today and found that it is definitly coming out of the drain tube for the fuel filter. So I guess I'll start there.
