1995 F 250 7.3 L power stroke diesel. Due to hard starting since the weather has gotten cold, I am going to replace by glow plugs and glow plug relay. Batteries are excellent. A ford truck servicenter told me I should also replace valve cover gaskets and UVC (?) connectors at the same time. Is this true or are they trying to get more work
thanks
Irvin
If you are going to replace the glow plugs yourself then just check them when you take the vc off.Check for burnt wires or leaking vc gaskets. Some will tell you how to check the pins in the harness for the glow plugs to see if they are ok. I replaced mine just for peace of mind. If you are having a shop do the work, then inspect the outside of the vc gaskets for leaks before they touch it...just to keep them honest.Just my .02
I am trying to decide whether to tackle it myself or have the shop do it. I planned to do it myself but have not found the time so it is not getting done. Meanwhile it won't start well in the cold
Looking to change glow plugs myself someone said it was not to hard. It probably isn't after you get to them. I am having trouble finding them are they under the valve covers
Yes they are under the VC's. It will take a thin walldeep 10 Mm socket and a ratchet.
There is a small box on the heater box under the insulation. If you remove this small box first it make it alot easir to get the passenger VC off.
