Wife needs a car, originally wanted an Escape hybrid, but I've managed to talk her into an Explorer. Looking at the 06-07-08, at minimum Eddie Bauer, but hoping to find a limited. What should I look out for? Currently have a 98 limited, 146k. I do most things by myself, Mobil 1 every 5k, etc.
2006 was the redesign. Did they get it right? or were there things they fixed in 07 or 08?
wow, judging from the responses, they were all really poorly constructed and I should look into buying something else. No issues like blend door or instrument cluster blackout or radio display problems?
I have an '06 Limited and I think it's a great vehicle. No problems at all. Ford has been making Explorers for so long there is not much wrong with them now. Of course your going to have the people with a few problems and then complain that they suck. I think there might have been a few reported problems of the plastic end tanks leaking on the '06 models, but I believe it was isolated to very few vehicles. Also, the blend door issue is along the same line, few problems which have been addressed. Personally, I love mine and would only get rid of it for another Explorer.
We have an '07 Eddie Bauer model that we have had since September, 2007. Absolutely no problems with it, and we really like the comfort and ride. This one replaced a leased 2005 XLT Explorer, and I am certain when the time comes to trade this one in we will get another Explorer.
07 eddie bauer purchased july 07. 28K, Problems zip, 0, V6, as high as 24mpg with real gas @ highway speeds. 20-22 mpg with 90/10 ethanal mix. Drives great, Rides great. Still really impressed even after this long and miles.
We have an 07 EB and just love it. Only problem so far is with the driver's side seat adjust. I get around 24 mpg and it rides smooth and nice and quiet. I have the V6 with about 34k on it. I would recommend this for anyone.
As I've said repeatedly, my wife had an 06 and really liked it. Liked the size, the eminities (limited with every thing), but.....while it flew some what , it didn't land well. Not made for that. She now drives an Expedition El, and as far as I'm concerened, for her safety, that still isn't big enough!
Just picked up an '07 Limited for my wife a week ago. She absolutely loves it. The only thing I've noticed is that the trans shifts a little goofy at times, but there is a TSB out for that. I'll get that taken care of at some point. Got a GREAT deal on it.
Nice ride for the wife! Hate it when you fellows do something nice for your wives. My wife sees it and expects the same. She just can't see that her 10 speed can get her around and saves fuel also............
