what trans?
If you shift your truck into reverse by pushing the lever towards the dash it is a T-18 4 speed.
If you shift your truck into reverse by pulling the lever towards the seat then it is the NP-435 4 speed.
That is a quick way to start to identify what transmission you have. The other way will require you to remove the hump on the floor to look at the top cover of the transmission. The T-18 has a cap that retains the shift lever that screws to the top cover. The NP-435 cap presses down and you make a slight twist to look it into place. The T-18 I beleve has a cast iron top cover while the NP-435 has aluminum.
There could be some other ways to identify, but those are what I know and I am sure others will chime in with other ways.
As for other transmissions that could be bolted up to the 352 engine, the Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed automatic was a factory option, there was also a 3 speed on the tree manual, and a three speed over drive manual transmission. You can bolt up a C-6 3 speed automatic which are pretty much bullet proof and you will need one that is behind a 360/390 engine. The 352 engine is part of the FE engine family which consist of the 352/360/390/406/410/427/428.
With adaptors from the after market you might be able to bolt something else up, but it will be expensive.

1965 F100/350 352: Warner T98 4 Speed.
1965 F100/350 240/300 I-6 = Warner T-18 4 Speed.
T-18's weren't installed behind the 352 till 1966.
The TRANS code is listed on the 2nd line of the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
A = New Process 435 4 Speed.
F = Warner T-98.
The old MX Cruise-O-Matic was last used in 1967. Parts are getting scarce, and while it's a good trans, nothing beats a C6 for reliability.
1968/76 F100/350's w/360/390's used C6's, it was the only A/T available.
Obviously not.
Where do you think I got that info from I posted...from a crystal ball?

The gear shift lever just kinda flops around & it won't stay in second gear.
I had the cover off the transmission & it seems like when I first put it back on It would stay in gear if you kept pressure on the stick. Now all it does is grind like it's not going in gear.
My question is; Can this part of the transmiision be rebuilt? Thanks, Royce
It's the vehicle that I learned to drive in.

There were two different 4 speed transmissions offered on these trucks.
One of them is the New Process 435, and my guess is, that's what you have.
The cap that holds the shift lever in place, has two notches on it that are retained by two pins that protrude from the shift tower.
The cap must be pressed down, and while holding it down, turned 1/4 to remove it.
Peeps do not know about this pressing down jazz, try turning it without pressing down, which tears out the caps two notches.
If the notches are gone, the shift lever will flop around and the lever can be pulled right out of the tower with the greatest of ease.

On the ends of the 1-2 & 3-4 shift forks are two nylon inserts each.
If they are missing, that's another possible explanation why the lever isn't making a proper engagement.
However, it's more than likely if it grinds into gear, that more is wrong besides the shift lever problem.
The brass blocker rings on the syncro's are worn down to a nub.
If that don't work I'd like to put a FMX that came out of 68 Galaxie LTD. It was behind a 390. Thanks Royce

2) D2TZ7C430B .. 1-2 Shift Fork Nylon Insert.
Both these numbers just went obsolete, but are still available at many Ford dealers and obsolete parts vendors.
One example in your area:
Dennis Carpenter in Concord NC has 55 of C2TZ7C430B & 36 of D2TZ7C430B / 704-786-8139.
