Stupid Question

I was talking to a friend today about taking my truck on a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon during the summer. He told me I would need to have my truck reset to the higher altitudes. This make no sense to me. Has anyone had to do this. The farthest Ive been with the truck is Memphis and had no trouble. Please let me know what you think.

that might have been the case for a 1970's carberator engine, but not with the electronic motors of today.

Use to live in Colo and the motor would starve going up Pikes Pike at over 14,000 ft.

On carb'd engine they have a lot of trouble with the thinner air. Non-turbo fuel injected diesels and gassers also have trouble with high altitudes as well, but instead of running to rich/lean, you loose tons of power. Turbo'd engines deal much better with higher altitudes however. They loose much less power.
