I have a very nice bare frame from a '53 F-100 that I would like to sell. Before I advertise it I would like to know what year models it will work with. I am assuming it will work for trucks up to the '56 models but I don't know that for sure. When I advertise it I do not want to say it will work for something it won't.
I noticed the front engine mount is different from the 6 cylinder to mine with a V8. Other than that I believe them to be very similar.
Is it just the mount or is it part of the actual frame cross member that is different? I can compare it with a known V8 frame that I have if I know what kind of difference to look for.
On the 6 cylinder frame used for my front suspension clip conversion the 6 cylinder engine mounting bracket was riveted on.
I don`t believe it would be hard to change over if going with a stock V8 but possibly someone with more experience will jump in.

I'm still confused here. Are you actually referring to the cross member of the frame the engine is mounted to or the mount itself that fastens the engine to that cross member??? I can't imagine why they would have made two different frame configurations when everything could be done with the mount design.
I have two '53s, one that was a stock 6 and the other which was a stock V8 as they came drom the factory. I will try to get out there and measure and compare both of them today. I'll let you know here on this thread.
Dave---why do you want some F700 fenders? I have at least 2 pairs of 1956 F600 front fenders--but the big job fenders are a little larger. I did not know you had a f700.....Bill
Pastore is a cool guy isn't he and has a lot of tractor and truck expertise. He cracks me up!! His buddy Jim is cool also----a story I have to tell you----Jim Is a retired post man and bought a new Cobra mustang but floor shift 5 speed -i THINK----He had arm surgery and cannot shift the car and soo----the car sat all summer and he was fuming--cause his wife wanted him to sell it. Funny dude!! Bill
On a 6 cylinder frame the front crossmember has a motor mount flange rivited to it. On a V-8 frame the front crossmember is not used for a motor mount. There is an additional crossmember added directly behind the front crossmember and this is where the front mount from the v8 bolt to.
Long story short, V-8 frames have one more cross member than a 6 cylinder frame.

Bill,
My son has a '53 F-100 he is going to sit on an '86 F-250 Diesel 4WD chassis. He needs the wider fenders to cover the extra wide tracking width. I just added them to my list because he needs them. I gotta do everything for that boy... Just kidding... If he brokers the deal on the '55 panel I guess the least I can do is help him find the fenders. then I gotta wait a year to get paid. There is always a catch. Oh well, when I croak he gets all my stuff anyway. He may regret that...

Thanks Kevin,
Now if you had been faster on the draw you could have saved this Old Phart from going to check. I saw what you were pointing out. One thing I noticed is that the 6 Cyl. frames dont have the holes punched for the extra cross member so I would caution anyone who modifies one to measure carefully before drilling holes.

Morris,
check Kevin's reply on this thread. As he pointed out, it's a matter of an extra cross member behind the one used for the 6 Cyl. Of course he made me go out and check before he posted his reply.
