So ive been looking for a vibration in my 02 Superduty for awhile.
Ive checked everything and had everything apart, well today my front wheel started squealing.
Its not the brakes ,as stepping on the brakes does nothing to change the noise.
Wheel bearing do you think?
Maybe that was my vibration and I missed it when I had it apart?
Sounds like you have a hub assembly going out. From what you described, it sounds like the same thing that happened to me. First thing to do is jack up the front for the truck and test the wheels for play, up and down play is bad but some side to side play is normal due to the steering. Also spin the wheels to see if you can hear a grinding/squeal. Here is where I got my part Powerstrokeshop.com
whats up vinford? this the same drivetrain vibration from a month or two? i was doing a search on you recently to find out what the problem was but couldn't find anything. i know you got alot of feedback on your vibration. anyway, have you checked a motormount? with the hood open-in a big parking lot, jump on and off the gas pedel and see if the engine jumps, maybe.
Thanks Swaybar but im betting ive got a bad wheelbearing.
And its probably been bad for all the time Ive been lookin.
My theroy anyway..........................
I'll bet it is the drivers side squeeling. It's the hub assembly. The squeeling is the spring clip retainer which holds the back break pad in place. You should see a grove in your rotor which may be about 1/4 inch wide. You need to replace the hub assembly. Easy job. About 1/2 hour job. It will help with some of your driving vibrations too. I just had this happen to me a couple weeks ago on my F350 SD. I still need to inspect my pasenger side. You will not notice any play with the bearing being bad when you shake the tire. You will need some extreem load on the bearing to make it ****. To inspect you need to take the hub assembly off the truck and look at the back of the casting. I'd bet it is blue from the heat. Mine was. If you got around 125,000 miles or more on your bearing I'd bet it's bad.
