replacing front pads
I want to replace the front brake pads in my 04 expedition. I can get the two bolts(torx T45) out but I cannot get the caliper off the rotor. Is there something else to remove? I read on this forum if you are not taking off the rotors, you don't need to fight those other two 18mm bolts.

Put one end of the clamp on the inside of the caliper, and the other end of the clamp on the outside brake pad. Once you compress it and then remove the clamp, the caliper should come off fairly easily.

im assuming its the first time you have ever pulled the caliper off... just need to work it free. either C clamp method, or stick a screw driver in to loosen up the pads a bit(dont scratch your rotor)... they are probably just clamped down on rotor. first time i took mine off it took some screwdriver action and a few whacks with a rubber mallot... then it will lift right off.

Yes, I am used to dual double piston calipers like on my 82 vette. It kinda confused me to see a c-clamp used like the one pictured to push the piston back in its bore enough to slide out the caliper. I think I have the concept now!
