Rim exchange......................

2008 F-150
Its got 17" rims on it.
Snow tires are twice as much for 17" than 15".
Can I buy aftermarket 15" rims and use them or what other sizes of rims would fit?
17" tires are worth $1500 plus while I can buy a good set 0of studded 15" for $700 or thereabouts.

15 inch rims will not fit an f150 i believe that the rotors on these trucks are like 16" so with the caliper a 17" rim is the smallest that will fit....just a heads up.

if it's any consolation though, you can interchange the Lincoln Mark LT/Navi and Expy wheels with these trucks.

All is not lost, just a little bit. At least you have the 17" rims. My 18" rims are running me about $250+ a tire (minimum) for when I buy. I found some 33" tires at Sams Club for $1,100 though (Wrangler MT/R)

You can drive anything in snow, (provided you not running on slicks) Just take it slow, and practice throttle control.

I live in flagstaff arizona and we see quite a bit of snow....i have an 05 2wd F150 with BFG AT tires and have a steady 500+ pounds of tools in the bed. I have never had any trouble in the snow. You just need to figure how to steer the truck using the throttle. Just dont run slicks. You can also get your tires studded or cyped? I think that is the word but they cut little slits in the tread of your tire and is supposed to help out with winter traction. Anyways hope that this helps

mud tires are great when it comes to snow, deep or not but suck when there is any ice present. trying to take they just spin with little to throttle and slide when trying to stop even with abs

We live in the middle of B.C. Canada on top of a mountian........we know about driving for 6 months of the year in the snow.
Thats why we know how important proper tires are.
Theres places we travel regularly here that you are 50 miles from the nearest anywhere and cell phones dont work lots of places.
Also it iilegal if you cause a accident and dont have proper tires.
Plus he drives to work at 5am every morning (fresh snow lots of mornings) approx 45 miles.
Its a 4x4 but 4x4 doesnt help you stop or steer.
