I`m experiencing a squealing -type noise coming from the driver`s side front wheel area. The truck is a 2005 F 150. Mileage about 30K.
It starts making this noise after the truck is driven a few miles and tapping on the brake causes the squeeling to momentarily stop.
My local mechanic has taken the front brake pads off, cleaned them up and applied anti-seize to the area where the pads slide. He says the brakes look OK to him, but the problem continues.
Before going to the dealer I`d really appreciate any ideas on this.
Anyone has/ had this problem ?
after you stop check and see if the rim(s) are getting hot, if so you definitely have a brake dragging. yesterday i had to replace a caliper due to one piston being seized, the sliders etc were lubed up and everything was moving properly, but with the hydrulic force on the piston it would come out applying the brakes but would not move back in. (short story is that i broke a piece of the piston off when trying to push it in with a c-clamp) my truck is also a 05 with 79,000kms
