I missed the Dana 60's in bigblackf250's sig, with a straight axle under the front the only problem will be the ride.
I am running an extra leaf in my front springs, you know when you hit a pothole.
Dodge does that 97 F250 have a straight axle front or IFS?
It's a TTB. If it was a 60 I'd just call it an F-350 and forget about it.
I still can't decide if I like it well enough to put one of my coveted Dana 60s in the front.
I hate how low it is. I have a 4" lift for it but I think I'll put the lift in my '94 'cuz I LOVE it.
I think I'm gonna finish fixing up the '97 and sell it/trade it in on a diesel Excursion for my wife.
I'd like to find one with a bad Stroke and tranny and put an IDI turbo and one of my Allison 545s in it.
I'm assuming the motor mounts and cooling system would work.
I don't hate the Powerstroke as much as I thought I would BUT I don't like it nearly as much as some people seem to. I don't get the facination with it. It will BARELY out-run my '91 Cummins. My '94 will blow their doors off.
I know you can do a bunch of upgrades but it ain't starting with much. I could up-grade my Cummins for LESS money and really have something. I'm definitely going to do a few up grades to the '94 like turbo housing, exhaust etc. because I'll probably have it forever.
Its been a long time guys.
On the IFS front ends tou can get a set of brackets to lower the center pivot points of the Twin I beams...
I have a setup with that on my '91...
I was wondering how many thought I had got lost while ELK hunting..
The last two years I went elk hunting I think the ELK were LOST!
I only saw two big bulls and they were almost 1200 yards away according to my Leica rangefinder. They were not just the "big" bulls but the ONLY elk I saw. By the time I climbed that ^&*(&^%-HILL!- they were gone.
I've heard Idaho is even worse than here (Oregon) because of all the Wolves.
WELL my hunting partner and I had a good year...
Him a 3X4 Bull Elk,, 300# hanging,,1/2 mile pack..
Me a 4x4 Bull Elk,, 320# hanging,, 3/4 mile pack..
!!!BOTH UP HILL ALL THE WAY OUT!!!
Neither of us got deer..
but he got a bear...small but verry tasty!!
I hope the N.E. Oregon and western Washington make the wolves disappear before they get a foot-hold on us.
It's been 8 years since I've gotten a bull already. I don't need anymore competition. Last year we got NONE and the year before we got one smallish 7x7. Didn't even get tags this year.

I'm not belittling your meat-packing distances but I WISH some of our packs would have been those lengths instead of what they actually were.
All of mine have been in eastern Oregon though, PLENTY of mountain climbing with a load of meat on your back but at least we didn't have to fight the rainforest here in western Oregon.
If you shot your elk on the west-side my hat's off to you. 1/2 mile over here is like 1.5 miles over there.
Dodge cummins go to packwood wa. stay in the campground in the middle of town every morning and you can wait until they get 50 feet or less from your camper pick out the one you want rope it tie to your bumper and lead it home no packing easy. I worked a little over a month in the mount ranier forest and spent a lot of off time only elk I saw was either in town or vivable from the hwy.
If I was an elk or deer I'd live on the police dept's lawn.
Safest place around and free food.
Most dangerous thing would be pet dogs and they USUALLY aren't in packs.
