302 tech help (EGR stuff)

So me and a buddy put a 302 in his Nissan pickup. The 302 is out of a 1990 F150 and we converted it to Carb. We used an 4 barrel intake from a 85?? mustang. It has ERG and the hole the is a long oval shape on the top where the Carb bolts down to it. I blocked off the ports in the back of each head too. My problem is that there is a vaccum leak where the carb bolts to the manifold. The carb is an Edelbrock Street Preformer 600 or 650 CFM. It is non EGR. I have a 1 inch spacer on it to get the carb to clear the Truck EFI valve covers. The spacer does not cover the EGR port on the manifold all the way so I made a plate that would and it worked pretty good for a little while but the only gaskets that I could find in town that fit around the ERG didint fit the manifold very good. I kinda made it work for a while with some RTV but it is leaking now.

My questions are:
1. Am I "deleting" the EGR the right way?

2. Anyone know of a spacer and/or gasket that will work for me.

3. Anyone run into this problem before and know what I am talking about?

Thanks
John

I'm no carb specialist but it sounds like you need an EGR spacer.
