Tire sizes in Tech Folder?

Anybody ever think of adding max. tire sizes to the Super Duty And Heavy Duty: ______SUPER DUTY Tech Folder_____ ? I know that after reading a number of posts, I start losing track of what size fits what year, with leaf or coils, plow prep or leveled, etc.
Just an idea.

Yeah or just a sticky about tires. There was a sticky for tires in the f150 section and it went on for hundreds of posts but for some reason they unstickied it so now you get threads over and over about what tires will fit. Seems like that comes up a lot here in the SD section.

I think there are other things though to take into consideration. Some people want the tire to have no way of ever rubbing no matter how twisted up their truck gets and think they NEED 4" of lift when someone else runs it fine stock. I see it all the time on here that people are running 6" - 8" of lift and they could run the same tire with 2" of lift. I personally think the smaller the lift the better, but then again, the next guy might want 12" of clearance at normal ride height, so it might get more confusing than anything. Then, on top off all that, if you have a gas engine or a diesel it makes a difference and there's like a half dozen springs available.

Edit: besides, I can't be the only one that likes seeing 3 - 4 posts about "what fits" on the front page of the forum everday .

I was just hoping for a basic, standing still on its own weight, guide as to what will hit and what won't. Oh, well, just my 2 cents [worth $0.0015 now].

Well, I linked a site that has that; however, I looked it over and they list more lift than "I" needed to run similar tires, so take it for what it's worth. You've got a 2005, you can run a 35" tire without a lift; however, with 2" lift (F350 rear blocks and a "leveling" kit for the front you'd have better clearance). There are going to be others though that say you *need* four inches of lift to clear 35" tires with your truck. I'm running a 34" tire with no lift and could certainly put a 1" taller tire on.

Yeah, I agree with you, that site seems to "need" a lot of lift. Also, I know they're off quite a bit on their listing for the older Suburbans. Thanks though, I think I'm gonna have them mount up a 315/70-17 [Firestone Destination M/T] and see how it fits.
Thanks again,

If you go that route, take pics and post 'em.

Here's 295/70/17 on my 2005.

Well, I ordered my tires today, they'll be in tomorrow afternoon. I should have them mounted Friday afternoon sometime and I'll take/post pics.
I went with the Hankook DynaPro M/T RT03 in 315/70-17. They should just fit [fingers crossed]. I checked into the Hankooks since my local guy can't get the Firestones. I was pleasantly suprised at their rating. I hadn't heard much about them before.
Again, I'll post more when I've tried them for a while.

315 Hankooks on '05 F250

O.K. guys, here are the Hankook DynaPro M/T RT03 315/70-17 [35x12.50-17”] on a 2005 F250 w/5.4l engine, Factory Leveling Kit and Plow Prep. 315s DEFINITELY FIT!!! The tires measure 34.8 inches in diameter. The smallest clearance is 1.75 inches and is to the FRONT of each wheel well when the tire is turned in. As far as I can see, that clearance should be for the full travel of the wheel. The pics of the left front and right front wheel well close-ups are brightened to try to show the clearances [it was very overcast when I took the pics]. Any questions, feel free to ask but the 315s DEFINITELY FIT!!!

(The hitch on the front is for female hitchikers. Just pop 'em right on there...)

Oversized tires also bring out the need for good/new shocks and steering stabilizers!

Just sprung for Bilstein 5100s and Skyjacker dual stabilizer. Should be in next week.

Added Skyjacker 7254 stabilizers

Skyjacker apparently doesn't make a dual steering stabilizer for stock suspension. There P/N 7254, spec'ed for 4" lift or more, MAY have clearance problems they say. I installed it anyway to see what the deal was.
The stabilizers fit fine on my truck but I can see where they're concerned about. Stock adjustments on tie rods and steering arms have what appear to be locking levers. If they're in an unfortunate position, I can see where they may touch. Like I said, mine don't and it fits fine. Also, I had to bolt the drivers' side bracket over one of those locking levers. It seems to have no effect.
Anyway, stabilizers took away that slight shake that I had after adding the 35" tires. I never had the "death wobble" but everything's fine now.

14-16" of snow over the weekend! Tires were awesome in everything from unplowed, off-road to icy, packed-snow, slush. I couldn't be happier with these tires.
