Ranger Truck
Thinking of selling my F-150, 1990 to my grandson and buying a 2000 Ford Ranger. We test drove one this past Tuesday, the 4 dr 6 cyl 3.0 auto. But we were surprised it didn't have any pick up and go. Our car is a 1995 Saturn, 4 cy and had a lot of power. What do you think? Any suggestions?

I just purchased a 1998 Ranger XLT lease return, 2WD with the 2.5L 4cyl. and manual trans. I haven't noticed a bit of slowness in acceleration. I have noticed that it is much quieter, and gets up to speed with a lot less fuss, than my Suzuki Swift (Geo Metro) did. I also notice that it seems to be going a lot slower than I really am, compared to my smaller car. I suspect the lack of power and acceleration you felt was either the result of an automatic trans. or an illusion created by the greater height and size of the pickup vs. your Saturn. Besides, it's not a sports car, it's a pickup truck. You aren't expecting to win drag races are you? Can you haul plywood in your Saturn?
