i had the idea to do eliptical suspesion on my truck, and it looks pretty easy to do and looks like it will flex great on the trails. if you dont know what eliptical suspension is, its when you just flip the leaf springs upside down and attach one end of the spring to the axle and the other end to the frame and the middle of the spring rests on a bump stop. i was just wondering if anyone on here knew what i was talking about and if so had any pointers or advice to give me.
thanks.
If you lived in the So. Cal. area, I would say there are lots of race shops around that could help you out.
From somew of the race trucks that I've seen, you also need to fabricate a way to locate the rear axle - maybe a 3 link or a 4 link set up. I've thought about this for the travel and the ride, but decided it would be just too much work for the type of driving/off roading that I do now....
1/4 elliptical, sorry. i dont plan on driving it on the road much once and if i do the 1/4 elliptical. im building my truck for trail riding, so pretty much to handle any terraine that a trail has to offer. i did my research and found that i will need a 4 link. and that it costs A LOT of money. over $600 just for the links, and thats minus the tubes themselvs.
well, i guess ill just go ahead and ask this while im at it. i saw a 3/4 elliptical suspension set up on a jeep, that looks a whole lot easier to do than 1/4, but does it flex good, and are there any downsides or anything to it?
