I had the trans replaced (at about 45k miles) with a Rebuilt by Ford because it blew out. No Reverse, 3rd, 4th.
10,000 on the rebuilt, and its starting to go.
The symptom is a hesitation of no power then the slamming into low gear after slowing down ( about 15 MPH) to go around a sharp curve and then you step on it to get on the Freeway.
Yup been there done that..... just bought my truck and it was slamming and that was at 52k and every now and then i feel the lil slam etc.. They told me there were a bunch of shavings in the pan so after they rebuilt it they put a mag filter in the line to get the rest of them out. ford ESP is being put on the truck tuesday... i would rather pay $2000 for warr then try and pay for the transmission...
you have a chance to get Ford ESP if you dont? if you can DO IT....

I have that happen the same way, been doing it now and then, same conditions. It's like it doesn't shift back when slowing down too fast, Then you hit the gas, and WHAM!, takes up all the slack and shifts back at the same time. I try to avoid fast slowdowns, followed by fast acceleration. Mines been doing that now and then for the last 30K, No other problems, shifts fine (normal sloppiness) otherwise. I can say, with confidence, I have no slipping judging by this condition. It about snaps your neck too when it happens. I wonder if it is in the computer somewhere.
Got an 05' and can't complain much about the tranny. Compared to my 03' Z71, this truck shifts and acts like a sports car. Talk about slop in the driveline. Those GM trucks suck big time.
I really believe a lot has to do with how these trucks are driven. Fast acceleration and stopping along with puching the throttle with sudden tranny shifts can and will kill any tranny over a short time. Transmissions like predictable driving.
With smaller cars and idiot driving, it's easy to get caught up in roadrage driving regularly where I try to drive a 7000lb trucks like it's a sport's car. The tranny on this truck wasn't designed for this type driving. I'll save this type driving for my manual shifting frontwheel drive car, which will take it a lot better.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Because my 2004 FX4 with 117500 miles is doing it to and i just cant afford a rebuild. So any help would be great

If you haven't already, have your tranny serviced, and/or try 'TransMedic' (if they still make it). TransMedic helps revitalize rubber seals/bands, has worked wonders on my vehicles in the past.
