i pan seared a steak in the oven last year. pulled it out and put it on the stove, was drinking a couple heinies, and decided to move the pan 5 minutes later without the "glove" next 3-4 weeks was fun watching my skin fall off, across my whole hand

Come on Carl, fess up. You can blame it on the muffler if you like but I think we all know how you got the burns on your palm.......man, if Sassy could talk, the tales she'd tell. 
Just kidding, bro. I got an almost identical set of burns last year during a field training exercise. Lost my balance in a tent and instinctively put my hand up to brace against the "pole" in front of me - it was the stove pipe to the diesel tent heater....got me out of a couple hours training, anyway.
