ICP Fail always throw codes?

Im having problems with my 05. Symptoms sound like ICP sensor failure, surging on start up, has stalled at idle while coasting, slight surge at cruise, start but low idle speed then dies (with dead peddle).

Will a failing ICP always throw a code? Or could I be looking at HPOP again?
HPOP was replaced by dealer at 65K, it now has 115K. BUT when the stupid dealer did the HPOP replace they did not use the updated connector w/bracket even tho I gave them the part #'s, the service rep/hack assured me that they used all updated materials, but of course they didnt. So now I worry that I may be back to the HPOP soon on my dime.

BTW, I have no CEL if it is throwing codes.

Sounds to me more like ICP and not HPOP. If it were a bad HPOP it would not start.
How do you know they didn't use the updated connector when they did your HPOP?

It will not always throw a code, take to dealer and they can check the reference volts.

I took it to the dealer. No Codes. He ran a battery of tests with the lap top connected and came up with nothing except a slow reacting egr but still within service limits.

I dont know if he checked for reference volts, if that is done under the hood as opposed to being hooked up to the port, it didnt happen.

I know the bracket connector was not used when the HPOP was done because any of the part #'s that would have been in that update were not on the invoice but all the other #'s were.

I am also thinking that it is not the HPOP as or it wouldnt be so intermitent.

Try unplugging the ICP sensor and see if it will idle normally.

Usauly icp's set codes when a continuity or leak occure. But ur concern about using the latest brkt & ftg on the HPOP repair is cause for concern. The early model 05 was the only model effeted by this redesign. Usually its a no-start hot concern, but if the teflon seal is just now starting to fail it can cause oil leaks that are not yet out of perimeters of the press values to set codes. It's tough to diag. But the best know what to look for and get it on the first try. Try a district rep. request or engineer one-on-one......PT
